Other Basic Information

Subfloor: A wood floor laid over materials upon which the Finished flooring will be placed.
Wall board: This is nailed on the studs after the plumbing and electrical wiring has been installed. Types include wood or gypsum. Depending upon the material, it can be painted or covered with wallpaper as part of the finished room.
Wall and Ceiling: Wood, gypsum/sheetrock, wallboard, paneling, plaster, etc. make good finishes for covering the interior walls and ceilings.
Joints between sections of "boards" need to be made smooth, this is done by applying joint cement with a special tape. Once dry, the "cement" must be sanded smooth so that it is level with the wall surface.
Where the "board" is nailed or screwed into the wall, the "dent" must be filled with a thin coat of the cement and the tape. (See above "Joints").
A "brace" is used to hold the ceiling board or sheetrock in place until it can be nailed in place.
Ceiling tiles may be used and are usually designed for decoration and sound insulation.
